Some car bumpers or lamp frames are silver-plated on metal or plastic surfaces, making the parts glossy and rust-proof. However, the anti-rust effect of electroplated parts will also be reduced due to the time elapsed. Because there are many tiny holes on the electroplating surface, when the electroplating surface is eroded by water, water will infiltrate through these tiny holes, causing metal rust under the coating. Because the rust layer is sandwiched between the metal and the electroplating layer, the electroplating layer will peel off and crack. In order to prevent corrosion of electroplated parts, a thin layer of polish wax is needed on the surface of electroplated parts. For the electroplated parts of plastic products, there is no possibility of rusting, so in maintenance, gently wipe with wet cloth. However, the bonding ability between electroplating and plastics is poor, so when wiping, don't exert too much force to avoid spalling of electroplating.

 

When rusting occurs on electroplated parts, it should be cleaned up and treated well to prevent the spread of rust. Then do electroplating treatment, so as to restore the original luster, play a protective role.
